Jaron and Ashlyn are on Spring break this week. So they accompanied me on my errands this morning. Here they are quizzing each other on states and capitals while we waited for the oil to get changed in my van. Ashlyn was elated whenever Jaron would forget an answer and she could “remind” him of the correct answer. Jaron was a little surprised that he couldn’t remember them all.  It’s amazing how time takes those little details with it….

Ashlyn came upstairs after transforming Emalee into a new member of our family. I can’t remember what she called her but she worked hard to convince us that Emalee didn’t exist anymore….and introduced us all to ((new name)). Jaron and Trevin kept telling Ashlyn “but that’s Emalee”!  They didn’t want to play along… Emalee was just thrilled with all the attention.

{Party day}

Most kids are thrilled out of their mind when they are invited to a birthday party….they live for them.  Emalee is no exception.   She was invited to Madison Patey’s  party at the Lion House, downtown.  Madison’s mom planned to pick her up.  Em was so excited she sat on the porch waiting for her….she didn’t want to miss her.  Those are good memories from my own childhood….birthday parties.

{A day with friends}

To celebrate the “last” official day of summer break, we invited some friends to spend the day with us.  The boys got to invite their friends last time….today the girls got to invite Cassie and Kate to go with us.  We ate lunch together at the house and headed off to paint ceramics. They each chose such fun things….

Afterwards we headed off to Cowabunga Bay where we went swimming.

Jaron hates pictures so this is the best I can hope for…

As it got closer to the time to go, Trevin was getting hungry and didn’t want to wait for the others to finish swimming.  So it was no surprise he wasn’t going to smile for me:

His frowny face was soon relieved after I took them all to Zupa’s for dinner.

A few hours later, Andy returned home from Arizona. He had been there for a few days on businesses. I’m always relieved to have him home safe and sound. Especially since he lost his wallet this trip and didn’t know if he’d be able to fly home without his identification. Thank goodness for honest people a day later……an answered prayer.

I took the kids swimming again today…. so fun!  Afterwards we stopped and got snow cones….perfect for such a hot day!

Today Jaron and I helped with field day at the kids’ school.  Throughout the morning we handed out popsicles to the kids.  In the afternoon I was put in charge of spraying their hair different colors.  The girls mostly wanted pink with silver sparkles and the boys usually went for green or blue.  Everyone had a great time!

Happy birthday sweet Trevin.  I packed you a fun lunch, got you brownies for your class and a balloon that says “Feliz Cumpleanos” (which you proudly tied to your backpack).

After school I took the boys to get haircuts, went and purchased new summer shoes for the kids.  When we returned home, Mimi was there waiting with Keltie and Parker.   She gave Trevin his birthday present and one from Oma.  It was fun to visit for a few minutes.

Andy and the kids went to Tae Kwon Do for testing.  They were all trying to get their next belt (blue).  Unfortunately,  they didn’t pass….but they’ll just work harder to get it next time.

When they returned, I had a little treasure hunt planned.  Before we started, my brother Jeff called to wish Trevin a happy birthday.   It was really nice chatting with him….I need to call him more.

I wrapped Trevin’s birthday presents and had an idea.  Trevin is always so generous and thoughtful.  Whenever he is given a gift, he gives it away.  So I found some small gifts that I could give the other kids (like pencils, treats,  and trinkets).  Then he would feel like everyone got something and he would be happy.  I wrapped everyone’s gifts in different paper and Andy hid their gifts in the front room.  They all had a blast.

Once a year my cherry blossom comes alive.  Its blossoms are beautiful and tell me Spring is on the horizon.

I honestly don’t know how long ago these pictures were taken of Emalee but I had to make sure they were posted somewhere…they are pretty cute!

{Some Exciting News, 100’s day at school…sort of & Stake Primary}

Emmy and I went to Zumba this morning at the church.  She really looks forward to seeing her friend Abby and playing with her while I exercise.  She asked me at least five or six times if she could have a play date with Abby while I exercised.  I told her we would talk after I was done.  Shortly after we started, Liberty and Spencer showed up.  Emmy had a blast playing with Spencer too.  She acts like his personal babysitter…lucky him.  When we were all done, and everyone started cleaning up, Lib told me that she is pregnant with her fourth child.  Yeah!!!  I am so excited for her and John.  She is due to deliver sometime in September.  Also before leaving, we set up a play date with Abby…Emalee is thrilled.  She’s asked me for a play date with Abby week after week after week.

Today I was on my out the door to take Emalee to school and she was teary eyed.  I asked her what was wrong.  She replied, “Today is 100 days of school and I am suppose to bring 100 cheerios to school.”  We were leaving for school five minutes early (thank goodness), so I grabbed a bag of chocolate chips (since I don’t have Cheerios right now….I have Raisin Bran though…..)  Anyway, between the both of us, we counted out 100 chocolate chips and headed out the door.  We chatted back and forth on the way to school until I noticed in the rear view mirror that she was munching on the chocolate chips.  I asked her, “What are you doing?  You need 100 of those for school.”  She didn’t say anything but she put it in her backpack and on to school she went.

Later in the evening I was telling Andy about Emalee eating the chocolate chips and he stopped me and said, “That’s really strange because yesterday I sent her to school with 100 pretzels.”  I said, “Really?”  THEN….when I checked Emalee’s backpack after school, there was a note from the school telling me that FRIDAY is 100’s day and to send something on that day.  Too funny!!

Since today is Spencer’s birthday (he turns FOUR today!!) we all went out to dinner together, sort of.  I dropped Andy, Emalee, Ashlyn and Trevin off at The Old Spaghetti Factory to meet with other family members.  Jaron had scouts (his first meeting in months…and he was really excited to go).  So he and I went home and got ready to leave.  I had my first Stake Primary Meeting…got set apart and learned more of my responsibilities.  Ready or not, here I come!
